Policy

Acceptable use policy

This policy forms part of the terms of service. It is short because most of it comes down to one thing: you are responsible for what you upload, and a fit reading is not permission to print anything.

Last updated 2 September 2026

01

You must hold the rights in what you upload

By uploading a file you confirm that you own it or hold the licences and permissions necessary to reproduce it on the products you intend to make. That confirmation is a condition of using the service.

We make no copyright or trademark determination of any kind. Nothing the service returns is clearance, an opinion, an endorsement or a hint. A reading that says a design fits a mug is a statement about geometry only. Whether you may print it is a legal question requiring professional advice, which we do not provide and do not imply.

Do not upload work that belongs to somebody else without their permission, including artwork found online, brand marks, character designs and photographs you did not license.

02

Uses that are not permitted

You may not use the service to:

  • process artwork you do not have the right to reproduce
  • produce material that is unlawful where it will be sold or made
  • produce sexual material involving minors, or material that sexualises a real person without consent
  • produce material that harasses, threatens or incites violence against a person or group
  • impersonate a person, business or public body, or pass work off as theirs
  • circumvent the plan limits, the credit allowance, or the watermark on the free plan
  • scrape, resell, sublicense or rebrand the service or its output as your own product
  • probe, load-test or interfere with the service or the accounts of other people
  • upload malware, or files crafted to exploit the file handling

03

High-risk contexts where a reading must not be relied on

A reading describes how a shape and a process treat a piece of artwork. It carries no safety, medical, legal, financial or regulatory meaning of any kind and must never be used as an input to a decision in these contexts:

  • medical devices, medical labelling, dosing or any clinical decision
  • legal advice, or a determination about anybody's rights
  • financial, credit or insurance decisions
  • safety-critical labelling, warnings, hazard markings or emergency signage
  • employment, credit, housing or judicial decisions about a person

If a marking has to be a particular size or a particular contrast because a regulation says so, that regulation governs, not this service. We measure geometry; we do not certify compliance with anything.

04

What we will not do, even if you ask

We do not evaluate your design, its subject or its style. We do not create artwork, redraw anything, or suggest that something would look better another way. Requests for any of that will be declined.

Corrections we return are geometric: move this into the band a viewer sees, clear this strip on the handle side, take these strokes above the threshold, or reproduce the file larger. Where the honest answer is that a carrier will not work, that is what the reading says, and we will not manufacture a workaround to avoid saying it.

05

What happens if this policy is broken

We may remove content, suspend an account or close it. Where the problem can be fixed, we will tell you what it is and give you a reasonable chance to fix it, unless doing so would be unlawful or would cause harm.
