Accessibility

Curveprint aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA.

Conformance is treated as a build requirement rather than an aspiration. Colour contrast is measured against the published formula and checked as part of the build rather than judged by eye.

• Every interactive control is reachable and operable from the keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible focus indicator that is never removed.
• Body text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background; larger text meets at least 3:1.
• Colour never carries meaning on its own. Cut lines, bleed, safe margins, handle-occlusion zones and strokes below a process threshold are each identified by a distinct line style and a text label, because the artwork underneath them can be any colour.
• The flat-to-wrapped control is a switch with a proper label, operable with Space or Enter. The cylinder turns with the arrow keys and re-centres with Home.
• The drawing carries a full text equivalent describing what is compressed, by how much, and what the handle hides. It is rendered visibly on the page as well as being available to assistive technology, so nothing exists only inside the canvas.
• The drawing accepts pinch-zoom on touch devices without zooming the page around it, and page zoom to 200% does not break any layout.
• Motion is limited to opacity and transform. Under prefers-reduced-motion the wrap jumps to its end state instead of animating, and no animation loops.
• Every image carries alternative text describing what the drawing shows, not merely that it is a drawing. Decorative marks are hidden from assistive technology.
• Forms have real labels, and errors are described in text next to the field rather than signalled by colour.
• There is a skip link to the main content on every page.
• Headings are in order, landmarks are used, and the page works without JavaScript for reading, though the interactive drawing requires it.

This site does not use an accessibility overlay, widget, toolbar or plugin of any kind, and it never will.

Overlays sit on top of a page and attempt to repair it from the outside. They are widely reported by disabled users to interfere with the assistive technology people already use, and they have repeatedly failed as a defence. Accessibility here is in the markup, the contrast values and the keyboard behaviour, which is the only place it works.

The fit drawing is rendered on a canvas. Its content is available as text beside it and in its accessible description, but the drawing itself cannot be explored element by element with a screen reader. If the text equivalent is missing anything you need, tell us and we will add it.

Turning the cylinder from the keyboard moves in 10-degree steps. If a finer step would help you, say so.
